Skanska builds new highway outside Oslo, Norway, for NOK 2.9 billion, about SEK 3.1 billion
The project includes construction of 2.0 kilometers of six lane highway between Ramstadsletta and Strand, including 1.3 kilometer of the new Høviktunnel outside Oslo as well as changes in the local surrounding road system, including the construction of a new bridge and retaining walls.
To ensure sufficient protection of external environment aspects throughout the project, Skanska will certify the work according to CEEQUAL, which is an internationally recognized certification standard for infrastructure.
The contract is part of the major project E18 Western Corridor, which consists of a new main highway system between Lysaker in Bærum and Drengsrud in Asker municipality. The new E18 will replace one of Norway’s busiest road sections, today characterized by traffic problems, poor accessibility for public transport, and extensive noise and air pollution.
Construction will start June 2022 and is expected to be completed during 2028.
